Lucy Adame-Clark Bexar County

Lucy Adame-Clark has shattered barriers and made history as the first Latina and first woman ever elected as Bexar County Clerk since the Republic of Texas was established. Born and raised in San Antonio, Mrs. Adame-Clark’s journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the power of community. She is not only a devoted mother of two and the wife of a sheriff’s deputy but also a trailblazer who has redefined what it means to lead with purpose.

Mrs. Adame-Clark’s path to leadership began with humble roots and family history that reflect the heart of Bexar County. Her family lineage is rooted in advocacy and service as she comes from migrant farm workers, pecan shellers, veterans, law enforcement, and blue-collar workers. She attended Sidney Lanier High School and later pursued Paralegal studies at Southern Careers Institute. Her career launched in 1997 with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, where she quickly rose through the ranks. By 2008, she was promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division as a Forensic Latent Print Examiner, working on high-profile cases alongside agencies like the FBI, ATF, and Texas DPS. Her expertise and commitment to excellence earned her a reputation as a trusted professional in law enforcement.

Mrs. Adame-Clark has consistently recognized the importance of continued education throughout her tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, where she served 6 days shy of 22 years. She earned certifications, accreditations, and specialized training, including FBI instruction in Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems. Her high-profile cases and lived experiences informed her dedication to professional growth and her passion for justice. This set the stage for her next chapter: public service.

In 2019, Lucy Adame-Clark took office as Bexar County Clerk, bringing her vision of innovation and accessibility to the role. She oversees many departments in which critical records are kept such as Auxiliary Jail Court, County Courts at Law, Probate, Mental Health Court, and serves as the Ex Officio Clerk of Commissioners Court. Mrs. Adame-Clark also oversees the preservation of Spanish Archives dating back to the 1700s, Vital Statistics which includes Marriage Records and Cattle Brands, DBA, and Land Records. Under her direction and leadership, she has transformed the County Clerk’s Office, introducing an award-winning initiative Straight to You – Records on the Run, which has garnered local, state, national, and international recognition for its innovation and impact.

Mrs. Adame-Clark’s accolades are as impressive as her achievements. She has received numerous awards, including the Texas Association of Counties Best Practices Award, the National Association of Counties Achievement Award, U.S. House of Representatives Women’s History Honoree recognition award, and the International Association of Government Officials Innovator Award. Her preservation efforts earned her the Texas Patriot Award and her leadership values earned her the Bexar County Pioneer Award, the San Antonio Business Journal Women’s Leadership Award, and national recognition as one of the 100 Successful Women in Business Network.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Adame-Clark is deeply rooted in her community. She serves as Vice President of Eagles Flight Advocacy & Outreach and has led initiatives supporting youth programs, education, and advocacy. Part of what made her run for office in 2019 was giving voice to the voiceless and vulnerable. A case she had during her time under the Sheriff’s Office involved a sexual assault of a two-year-old child that took years to move through the court system. As the County Clerk, she was able to fix the process with her knowledge and training through an automated system within her first year as County Clerk. Her unwavering commitment to service has made her a beloved figure in Bexar County, where she continues to inspire others through her leadership and ongoing dedication.

Lucy Adame-Clark’s story is one of breaking barriers, uplifting her community, and leading with heart. She is a shining example of what it means to serve with purpose and passion, leaving a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
