Victor Gallardo – Top Latinos

Oxnard, CA/LWW/Mr. Victor Gallardo, Advocate & Volunteer has been recognized by the Top Latinos in the 2026 edition.

In Oxnard, California, community strength often relies on the tireless efforts of individuals who dedicate their lives to lifting others up. Victor Gallardo is one of those pillars. For over five decades, he has been a steadfast advocate for families, farmworkers, and the Latino community, proving that retirement is just another opportunity to serve.

Victor’s journey of service began early. At just 23 years old, he started down a path of community involvement that has now spanned more than 53 years. A retired member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Victor understands the power of solidarity and hard work. The ILWU has a long history of social justice, and Victor has carried those principles from the docks into his retirement.

He remains deeply active with “Campesinos a Campesinos,” an organization with roots tracing back to the principles of labor leader Harry Bridges in 1999. While Victor admits the work is hard, he finds it incredibly rewarding. Through this involvement, he volunteers his time to support farmworkers in his local community, ensuring the people who put food on our tables have an advocate in their corner.

Victor’s commitment goes beyond immediate aid; he is invested in the future success of his community. He is politically active and uses his voice to ensure that families and individuals in need can access essential services. He doesn’t just wait for change to happen—he helps organize it.

Education is a key part of his vision for success. Every year, Victor helps organize and donate scholarships, providing young students with the financial support they need to pursue their dreams. His goal is simple: he strives for success not just for himself, but for the entire Latino community.

Behind every great public figure is often a strong personal foundation. Victor is quick to credit his secret to success: having the right partner by his side. He has been happily married for over 52 years, a partnership that has undoubtedly fueled his resilience and dedication.

His inspiration also comes from the next generation. Victor speaks with pride about his two daughters, both of whom graduated from West Point. Their discipline and achievement serve as a constant reminder of what is possible when you combine hard work with strong values.

Victor Gallardo’s story is a reminder that community service isn’t a temporary project; it’s a lifelong commitment. From the union hall to the fields of Oxnard, his 53 years of advocacy have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals.
